RETENTION SPECIALIST FOR NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH – CARL D. PERKINS

TEMPORARY PART-TIME POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Butler County Community College (BC3) is currently accepting applications for the position of Retention Specialist for Nursing and Allied Health.  This is a temporary part-time, grant funded position that will begin immediately. 25 hours per week for 35 weeks during the Academic Year + 125 hours.   Maintain 15 hours on campus Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am-4pm. Maintain up to 5 hours on campus Monday through Friday 4pm-7pm and maintain up to 5 virtual hours on Saturdays. This position is contingent upon grant funds and will exist as long as grant funds are available to support this position. Travel to off-campus site locations required.

Reporting to the Director of Student Access and Success, the Retention Specialist for Nursing and Allied Health will support retention and student success initiatives for occupational students enrolled primarily in the Nursing and Allied Health programs. These include Health Care Science, Massage Therapy, Medical Coding and Billing, Nursing, RN, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Practical Nursing. The Retention Specialist will provide a case management approach to identify student needs and to proactively connect students with resources, communicate important deadlines, and use coaching strategies to encourage student success. They will ensure that students have appropriate academic support and provide tutoring and mentorship individually and in groups. The Retention Specialist will also assist the Shaffer School of Nursing and Allied Health (SSNUAH) remediation programs and with the advising and course registration process. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. Degree in Counseling, Adult Education, Student Personnel, Higher Education, Social Work, Psychology, Healthcare or related field preferred. Master's degree from an accredited institution in a related field preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required. Experience working with college student support preferred. Work within or knowledge of healthcare fields preferred. Direct experience in advising, counseling, coaching, or tutoring preferred. Strong understanding of college student development and transition theories, and experience working with academically underprepared students preferred.

Hourly rate will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
